This describes the current development app. Operator details, support contact, hosting and provider arrangements, and retention periods must be confirmed before this policy is used for a public store release.
01. Who we are
Snap & Learn helps learners turn school notes into quizzes, explanations, and learning progress. This policy covers the Snap & Learn app and this website.
The public developer/operator details will be added before launch. A public privacy contact will also be listed here before launch.
02. Information we use
| Information | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Learner profile | A nickname, grade, chosen avatar, learning goals, and focus areas personalise learning. |
| Parent account | A parent email and six-digit PIN allow access to saved progress. The same PIN unlocks parent settings and is stored as a salted hash. |
| Learning activity | Generated lesson content, questions, source excerpts, answers, reflection results, badges, and activity totals support practice and progress tracking. |
| Submitted notes and media | Typed notes, selected photos, and optional voice recordings are processed to create learning content or transcribe a reflection. |
| Technical information | Request identifiers, response status, timings, and error information help diagnose problems. Servers also receive connection information such as IP addresses. |
The app keeps a session token and active-quest reference on your device so you can return to your progress. The browser app uses local browser storage for that purpose.
03. Photos, recordings, and AI
The camera and microphone are used when you choose those features and grant permission. You can type notes or reflections instead. Avoid including names, school identifiers, faces, or other personal details in learning material.
Submitted photos and notes go to the learning server. The current Azure configuration sends learning inputs to Microsoft Azure OpenAI to generate quiz content; voice recordings are sent for transcription. Provider processing and retention depend on the configured service and its applicable terms.
Original image and audio files are not saved in the account database. Uploads are closed after processing. Generated learning material can contain excerpts from the submitted notes. For reflections, the app stores the practice result, such as covered and missing concepts, rather than the original recording or full transcript.
The current app does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. This website does not create learner accounts, accept uploads, or use analytics cookies. Hosting services may retain standard access logs.
04. Children and parents
Snap & Learn is intended to be set up with a parent or guardian. A parent PIN protects parent settings, data export, and deletion. Use a nickname rather than a child’s full name.
Parents can review the learner’s progress, change learning goals, export stored learning data, and delete the profile. Contact us if you believe a child has shared personal information that should be removed.
For the public launch, the operator must confirm the intended age range, countries served, and any parental consent process required for those users. The current PIN and parent check are not a claim of verified parental consent.
05. Retention and deletion
Profile and learning data remain in the active database until the profile is deleted, subject to the app’s limits on saved learning sessions. Deleting a profile also removes its linked sign-in account from that database.
Deletion of an active profile does not automatically erase separate development backups, hosting logs, or any records retained by processing providers. The operator must confirm and publish the retention periods and deletion arrangements for those systems before public launch.
To delete your profile, follow the steps on our account deletion page. If you cannot access the app, that page also provides the support request route when a public support address is configured.
06. Your choices
- Use typed notes instead of photos, and typed reflections instead of voice.
- Change camera and microphone permissions in your device settings.
- Export learning data from Parent settings.
- Request account deletion through the app or the support route.
The public operator will handle applicable access, correction, and deletion requests after verifying the requester’s authority to act for the account. Do not include passwords or parent PINs in a request.
07. Contact and updates
We will update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes. Material changes to the public service’s data practices should be communicated before they take effect.
Our public support address will be added before launch. For this private preview, contact the person who invited you to test Snap & Learn.
